What’s this all about???
This morning, the charges against Tarino Lightbourne and Pleasant Bridgewater, the two men who were allegedly trying to get millions from John Travolta soon after the tragic death of his son Jett, were dropped.
A judge in the Bahamas complied with the request of John himself to free the men of all extortion charges. Sources say that plea baragins for the defendants were in the works for serveral weeks, but the news traveling from the islands say that case has just been closed.
But why John? Why would you let these heartless a-holes walk away free and clear? We’re all for moving on and rebuilding a life, but these guys should pay for the pain they have caused you! What gives???
UPDATE: Chief Counsel in the Office of the Attorney General, Neil Braithwaite, released this statement outside the courthouse in the Bahamas shortly after the charges were dropped:
“The defendants have been discharged. Mr. Travolta is no longer interested in pursuing the matter because it has caused his family great emotional distress.”

Rihanna has been busy in Hawaii shooting her new movie, Battleship. But yesterday, she took the time to chat with her fans! Here’s what the 22-year-old Barbadian beauty opened up about:
On her new electrifying and explosive single: “’Only Girl’ is a bigger sound than ‘Rude Boy’.”
On her evolving sound: “I’m done recording the whole album.. I made sure not to let you down with my music! You guys are always defending me, so now you’ve got some great songs to justify it. I didn’t want to go backward and remake [my 2007 album] Good Girl Gone Bad. I wanted the next step in the evolution of Rihanna, and it’s perfect for us.”
On her new perfume: “It’s called Reb’L Fleur.” (The scent is named after her most recent neck tattoo, rebelle fleur, which means rebel flower in French).
Rihanna will premiere her new Stargate-produced single “Only Girl (In The World)” TOMORROW (Sept. 7) at 3AM PST/6AM EST.
Letting loose over the weekend, U2 frontman Bono enjoyed a fun-filled stop in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday (September 5).
The singing legend, who is coming off of recent back surgery, looked to be in high spirits as he sampled the drinks and dancers at local hotspot Reina.
Earlier in the day, Bono and friends – including fellow U2 member The Edge – grabbed up a bite to eat at the House Cafe.
The trip comes as the band’s manager Paul McGuinness has started a crusade against Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for their lackadaisical approach to curbing illegal downloads.
“I am convinced that ISPs are not going to help the music and film industry voluntarily,” Sarkozy wrote for a new GQ article. “Some things have got to come with the force of legislation, President Sarkozy understood that point when he became the first head of state to champion laws to require ISPs to reduce piracy in France.”
He added, “In Britain, the major political parties have understood it, too. Following the passing of new anti-piracy laws in April’s Digital Economy Act, Britain and France now have some of the world’s best legal environments for rebuilding our battered music business.”
He was passionate in his play to get on the Presidential ballot in Haiti, and though he was unsuccessful, Wyclef Jean isn’t content to sit back and let his critics get the best of him.
The Fugees rapper took aim at Sean Penn, who was very vocal in dismissing Wyclef’s presidential bid, during an interview over the weekend.
Wyclef declared, “I got a message for Sean Penn: Maybe he ain’t see me in Haiti because he was too busy sniffing cocaine.”
As for his former bandmate Pras, Jean said, “I got a message for Praswell, even though you don’t want to support me, I got love for you, even though you only kicked 8 bars in the Fugees.”
Taking care of her building appetite, Ashley Greene was spotted hitting up the Orient Extreme restaurant in Paris, France today (September 6).
Meeting up with fellow celebrity babe Miley Cyrus, the “Twilight” babe looked lovely as she made her exit from the popular eatery in the Saint Germain neighborhood.
Ashley is in Paris to work on her brand new film “LOL: Laughing Out Loud,” and she’s not the only big name on the roster.
Miss Cyrus, Demi Moore, Thomas Jane, Jay Hernandez, and Gina Gershon all star in the flick about teenage kids and the parents that try to keep tabs on them.
Out supporting her fellow thespians, Cate Blanchett was looking fabulous as she hit up the 2010 Helpmann Awards in Sydney, Australia on Monday (September 6).
Held at the Sydney Opera House, the “Curious Case of Benjamin Button” beauty wore a black ensemble with bright red lipstick as she turned up for the ceremony despite receiving zero Helpmann nominations for her work in “A Streetcar Named Desire”.
As for the annually held show, the Helpmann Awards gather the biggest names in theatre to help celebrate excellence and achievement in live performance.
The big winner of the evening was “Jersey Boys”, as the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons won the top prize Best Musical trophy.
Getting in some family bonding time, Christina Aguilera was spotted out to dinner in Venice, California last night (September 5).
Joined by her husband Jordan Bratman and son Max, the “Ain’t No Other Man” songstress looked lovely in a grey cardigan, white top, and dark leggings.
Once finished with their meal at the 3 Square Café & Bakery, Christina and Co. hopped into their red Ferrari sports car and sped off.
And despite the massive swarm of shutterbugs, Mr. Bratman handled the fine example of Italian automotive engineering like a seasoned pro.

Hey, Academy! So, you didn’t think Lost deserved any Emmys, even though it’s been on for six years and was the talk of the water cooler since that damn plane crashed on that island?!
That’s cool, whatever. We don’t agree, but really, it was your call who won. But just so you know, the folks over at Lost don’t need your stoopid trophy. They’ve got something better- $$$! (And loads of it!)
Following their big Emmy loss, sources are reporting that the sixth and final season of Lost released on DVD has been KILLING in the charts. It’s placed at #1 for the best selling DVD of the last week in August!
Nice! What say you to that, Academy????
